Time to move on to our “Stay Hot” segment!

The Skin:

This harsh summer not only tans the skin but also causes the pores to get clogged because of excessive sweating coupled with grime and dust. Our skin dreads summer as much as we do. Water is an essential at this time. Water not only quenches the thirst but also helps to flush out the toxins and waste that accumulate in the body. Treat yourself with fluids like fresh fruit juices, coconut water, green tea, buttermilk or just plain water to decrease the heat. This will keep the body cool and hydrated. Green tea is high in antioxidants which help to eliminate dead skin cells and the anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic properties in green tea protects against a variety of skin disorders. Fluids also help to detoxify the skin and keep the skin soft, dewy and clear. Do not forget to exercise as it helps to get rid of the toxins and gives you glowing skin. Ensure that you get at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night, so that your skin has enough time to repair everyday damage.

Mrs. Geeta Pawa, Dermatologist and the Owner of Shape & Shine Salon had to say. “As we spend more time outdoors, our skin is hit by the Sun & pollution. To keep our skin glowing it is not enough to just apply sunscreen; one must apply enough and apply frequently” she goes on to add “One must not to wash your face too much as it loses its natural moisture, to keep your skin hydrated with toner and make best friends with H20! If you drink caffeinated beverages you must triple the amount of water you drink.” Furthermore “A tan may be a popular summer look but it indicates damage that needs to be repaired and treated! Skin Rejuvena facial is the best facial one can have for the summer! ”

Keep your skin happy, and flaunt it this summer. Last but not the least let’s get our crowning glory! Yes, I mean that beautiful hair of yours.

The Hair:

Hair Colour stylist Ruchi Vas says “  drinking  a lost of water is not only good for your skin but your hair too, it give it a lively look that your hair deserves!”

Between the humidity, and feeling hot in general, the summer heat just kills and the best way to keep yourself cool and speaking out of experience, the shorter the hair the cooler you will feel. Not only does short hair keep you cool, it also means low maintenance in summers, which will keep your hair thicker and healthier than ever!

Ruchi suggests updos for girls with longer hair, as it makes one feel less hot and uncomfortable especially when it is thick, heavy and all over the place. When it comes to updos the best thing one could do, is a sleek and tight bun, where no matter how much one works up a sweat during the summer one won’t have a hair out of place. It will keep one cool and at the same time give one an elegant summer look.  For those with curly hair, curls tend to get wilder with the humidity and the best way to keep your hair up is by doing a soft tousled updo. There is large variety of styles to choose from so find something the is easy to maintain and can be done on a daily basis.

Another tip, especially if one colours their hair during the summer is to make sure the colors you choose are close to one’s own natural hair colour. One could do lowlights or highlights with more caramels and browns but always remember, when looking at the shade card, the colours shown are always two shades lighter than what will translate onto one’s hair.

So while it may not always be easy to stay cool and beat the heat this summer, just keep these handy tips in mind, throw in a confident smile, and you’ll be able to sizzle wherever you go.
