But there is one attraction which still holds its popularity among all these unbeaten interests. Yes, I am talking about the fabulous shopping places of Goa! Clothes and accessories, sold here are a style statement that the state carries off very well. So, here are a few places in Goa where you can shop big and shop in budget.
- Republic of Mode
A destination for conversation, aspiration and endless wonder, Republic of Mode is a charming boutique located in Candolim. An abode of hand picked apparel,unique home decor, luxury fashion and lifestyle products, each piece narrates an inspiring tale, beginning from the maker’s inspiration to it’s journey to the store. They have a few in house brands namely ‘Cremoda’ which offers comfortable, sophisticated daily wear, usually revolving around tropical summery vibes. Their label ‘Stephany’, features draped fluid silhouettes in bold and vibrant colours. Besides this, Republic of Mode also showcase one of a kind, elegant and handpicked pieces of jewellery and footwear.

A tiny designer boutique store, Alchemy is a culmination of ‘bohemian meets elegant’ look. Their inspiration comes from the beautiful natural fabrics found in India – hemp, raw silk, handwoven cotton and other organic materials, which is why the pricing is a bit on the higher side. Curated by designers like Fara and Studio Tia, the brand offers clothing and accessories perfect for the beach, the bar or the city, their minimal yet statement pieces are not only unique but also help to support the local artisan community. One of the must-check-outs in Ashvem.

Tucked inside a traditional Goan house with a stunning courtyard, Rangeela is a wholesome concept store where there is something for everyone and every budget. Walking around the store, every nook and cranny is covered with clothes, lamps, necklaces, clothes, decor, souvenirs, and every little knick knack you can think of. Each piece has a story and looks like it’s travelled the distance to be there.
Their in house brand ‘Cochin Blue’ features breezy kaftans, tops, dresses and shirts perfect for the tropics. Gado Gado, another one of their in house brands, by a Dutch designer is one of my faves, that is if you, like me, are a sucker for vintage patterns and lace on pastel hues. Chola The Label and Baro are a few other brands they work with. The store is located close to Mojigao and Gshot coffee roasters which you can hit up for a cuppa after a lazy afternoon of browsing at Rangeela.

4. The Flame Store
The Flame Store is best known for its quirky, chic collection of clothes, jewellery, homeware – amongst these their kaftans in particular, are a crowd favourite. Using mostly organic and heritage fabrics, most of their pieces are handcrafted and uniquely designed to create beautiful breathable clothing that is both timeless and classy, perfect for that laid back vacation look. Can’t make it to Candolim? You’ll be happy to know that they also have a branch at Thalassa in Siolim.

5. Paper Boat Collective
Easily one of Goa’s most exquisitely curated spaces, The Paper Boat Collective is a concept store that holds designs from some of India’s top up-and-coming designers. If their luxurious silk and cotton textiles from brands like Paruthi and Maku don’t lure you in, you might find yourself more interested in their quirky little knick-knacks, handmade soaps, Karnataka coffees by The Indian Bean, or a selection of blue-hued home ceramics. Also, do check out their collection online, I’m sure some of them are surely going to make it to your ‘I Want’ list!
