Oh, the sweet flavours of summertime! Meadows of ice cream, a mountain of doughnuts, hurricanes of chocolate and oceans of buttercream as far as the eye can see. That’s right, here are Goa’s 10 best dessert places. Better keep your dessert spoons ready, because this list is serious business.
1. Davide’s Pizzeria
Helmed by Davide Cananzi and Alciela Shilla, owners of the newly opened Davide’s Pizzeria is one of those hidden gems of Aguada that we went to recently and discovered that everything in this restaurant is made fresh daily in-house from their dough, to pizzas sauces and meatballs. For dessert, we recommend any of the amazing cupcakes but the Torta di Noci e Zucchini is definitely worth a try and yes you read it right! They use a vegetable in the dessert! The beautiful space and the spectacular food provides you with an exquisite dining experience you won’t soon forget.

2. Golden Chantilly
A Goa-based home bakery, named after the Northern French town, Chantilly, specialises in frozen French desserts. The four flagship desserts — Cajo Verrine, Noisette, Caramel Entremet and Signature Dome, are a brainchild of Erica Fernandes, former PR professional. The Signature Dome is created hazelnut, the Cajo’ Verrine, a classic combination of caramel, chocolate and salted caramel with cashew, topped on a creamy chocolate cremeux and the Noisette with a hazelnut praline cremeux, placed on a petit gâteau that embodies the crème anglaise. Each dessert needs to be pre-ordered as it is carefully prepared, by each layer, to lend its own unique flavours.
3. Artisan Backerei
This bakery that recreates vintage recipes from Hungary, Germany & Italy, Artisan Backerei, is located in Calangute. Their Zuccotto Fiorentino, a dark chocolate dome filled with hazelnut, cherries and Cointreau cream is one of those forgotten desserts from the 16th century (that is now served only in Italy) and is now in Goa. Try their popular Hummingbird cake, or their No-Bake Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake made with tofu and vegan cheese.

4. Cafe Central
Cafe Central in Panjim makes all their cake toppings in-house and including choices like brownies, cookies and cookie dough, marshmallows, golden honeycomb shards, and tartlets. The dense, moist texture of their cake is truly one of its kind. Their recipes have remained unaltered and yet perfect for years and years.

5. Mr Gelato
Creme Choco has been serving incredible gelato and handmade desserts since 2012. They’re known to use only the best ingredients to prepare and present sumptuous desserts, ensuring that every mouthful is as good as the last. Their mango sorbet ice cream and Cream Choc are amongst their best sellers.

6. Casa Playa Goa
Casa Playa in Vagator offers you great food, an amazing view, sundowners & cocktails. They create a number of delicious dishes, especially their desserts! Try their Tiramisu (with Mascarpone Mousse, coffee and Kahlua soaked sponge, coffee nougat and cocoa dust), their Chocolate Anarchy and their white chocolate Cheesecake with toasted coconut and passion fruit.

7. Hice Cream
With delicious boozy ice-creams, Hice Cream has got a whole bunch to choose from — alcohol-infused flavours, vegan ones, regular ones and some even made from local Goan liqueur. With flavours that are named after movies and songs, their fridge is always filled with some fresh, delicious flavours. Their chocolate and coffee infused flavours are amongst the bestsellers. Also try their Pixie Dust, a beautiful blue ice cream that’s made from vanilla pods and natural blue plant extracts. The best part about them — they are made from completely natural ingredients and stay away from artificial colours and flavours. They are located in Assagao for both pickups and deliveries nearby, but usually, need a 24 hours notice to whip up your favourite flavours.

8. Mona’s Pantry
Mona creates sinful treats from her home in Morjim. Her signature desserts include the chocolate truffle torte which is decadently rich, smooth and silky, her spicy carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, super light strawberry shortcake, tres leches, passion fruit cheesecake and a pear frangipane tart. The lemon curd cheesecake and the traditional banoffee pie is another hot favourite. Her desserts are rich and tasty and clearly set themselves apart from the ones available in commercial spaces.

9. Chef’s Kitchen
The Chef’s Kitchen, the brainchild of Chef Gita Sahni is a unique delicatessen that creates Artisanal Fine Foods – all lovingly made, in a traditional way – under the direction and expertise of Gita. her desserts range from decadent Pâtés and Terrines to a dedicated Vegan range. Her delicious Vegan Butter, a perfect accompaniment to her Gluten Free Bread (is an absolute bestseller). You are spoilt for choice with her delicious range of scrumptious Scones, Mini Quiches & delectable desserts.

10. Cafe Chocolatti
Snuggled into a tiny gate on the footpath on Candolim Road, Café Chocolatti provides you a meditation area of sorts, away from the hustle bustle of the beach and city life. A villa with extended rooms that have been converted into the bakery and kitchens, lush green lawns, white and black tiled floors, and pebbled pathways in the garden. And the menu here will have you drooling at the sight of it. The crepes are interesting, and to die for as is their homemade chocolates, decadent chocolate brownie and homemade jams. They have a variety of choc chip cookies, chocolate truffles, chocolate pastries and much much more.
