It’s beginning to look a lot like cocktails! A well-made cocktail can make a world of difference to your overall dining experience. I’ve rounded six of my favourite spots in Goa that are adept at stirring up mixology marvels.
An “immersive Asian dining experience” with nothing less than a cult following for its food, Tataki does utter justice to their cocktails as well. The Pa:Ti:Ta; a light blend of papaya, rose wine and tonic are amazingly light and refreshing. The Super Human, a blend of tequila, lime, honey, ginger beer and star anise is a super invigorating blend. The Black Rock, on the other hand, is pure mixology magic, being a melange of gin infused with charcoal topped with a foamy basil cloud.

Sunsets, cocktails and delightful food, Titlie ticks all the boxes for the ultimate sundowner spot. You needn’t think twice while ordering the Saligao Straight; Goan mahua blended with tangy tamarind pulp, and the sweetness of jaggery syrup and pineapple concentrate, served with ice. The Austine Tower Old Fashioned is a peanut infused Paul John Bold medley, with the richness of caramel and zestiness of orange bitters really shining through. Stirred and finished off with orange oils, this is a powerful libation. The Majorda Mist is another favourite in the making, being a mix of vodka with fresh passion fruit pulp with the zest of red bell peppers, the tang of lime, and a hint of tabasco all shaken up to give you this thrillingly piquant drink.

A Reverie, Calangute
A Reverie has some of the most sublime food in Goa chaperoned by an equally enthralling ambience. Another aspect that deserves to be lauded is their cocktail selection, inventive mixtures all set to redefine the boundaries of mixology. The Passionate Mojito is a combination of fresh passion fruit and Bacardi with the zippy taste of lime blended fresh mint. As winsome a mixture as ever! Proving that classics never really go out of style is the Negroni; charred smoky spices adding to the fresh herb-infused gin along with the tang of caramelised oranges is served chilled.

Antares has wiggled its way into the hearts of Goans and tourists alike with breathtaking views and mind-blowing cocktails. Sip on the Apple Pie on the Rocks (cinnamon-infused dark rum with the sweetness of caramelised apple and apple juice) as the sun slips beneath the horizon. Easily one of my favourite tipples! The Plum Bellini, a concoction of gin, crisp sparkling wine, sweet, tangy plum and a dash of lime juice is a charmingly dainty and sophisticated cocktail.

A chic ambience, moreish food and bracing cocktails make Black Market a force to be reckoned in the world of trendy hang out spots. The Rum + Kadipatta is a drink with a quirky Indian twist. A mix of light rum, ginger and curry leaves, I love the desi’ness of this cocktail! The Whiskey + Karela is a deliciously biting mix of whiskey, bitter gourd syrup, lime and sparkling water and boy does it work!

Along with its fine coastal food, Mahe does some bracing cocktails. My top pick would be the Mallu Mai Tai, a power-packed concoction of house chilli spiced rum, house velvet falernum, a tangy Malabar tamarind tincture, and orgeat with the sharp bite of fresh lime and pineapple. One is never enough! The Kokum Shrub brings to you a composition of truly local, Goan flavours. Kokum and local coconut vinegar combined with artisanal coconut feni and cane sugar make for a cocktail with some deliciously unusual flavours.
