On The Go, Porvorim
For the freshest Peruvian fare, there’s nothing like On The Go in Porvorim. This unassuming cafe whips up the most toothsome delights! The Chicken Empanada seems to be on everybody’s list of favourites and it’s easy to see why. This light, flaky pastry with a delicately spiced filling is the ultimate snack and pairs well with the Frappe and the Espresso. The ice teas too are amazingly refreshing. The Peruvian Arroz Con Pollo or Coriander Rice with chicken sells like hotcakes, and is a healthy mini-meal with rice and tender chicken chock full of flavour and fresh vegetables.
My sweet tooth had a field day with the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cheesecake and the Passion Fruit and Mango Mousse. All in all, a great place for some healthy food options.

Black Vanilla, Panjim
Looking for a delish sandwich and a steaming cup of joe? Look no further because Black Vanilla is the place to be. Slathered in a piquant harissa sauce, the Pulled Pork Sandwich will fill you right up. Opt for a multigrain bread to up the health factor! If you’re looking to swap your coffee with another beverage, I’d suggest the Hot Chocolate. Rich, creamy and chocolatey, this is a cup full of sinful goodness. They also have some incredible whoppers on the menu and BBQ Chicken Burger has my heart. I couldn’t really leave without some dessert and Black Vanilla will leave you spoilt for choice on this front. Treat yourself to an assortment of pastries or you could go for the Blueberry Cheesecake, sweet, blissful indulgence!

As far as wholesome hang out spots go, few can beat Artjuna. Tasty, wholesome and fresh, they have a range of delectable offerings to delight you with. The kombucha, a probiotic fermented tea with a host of health benefits comes in three flavours, pineapple, pomegranate and apple (I especially loved the apple!). They also make a mean Bagel Sandwich, with smoked salmon and cream cheese. I tried the homemade Pas#ta Ratatouille; pasta with a rich tomato sauce, zucchini, eggplant, onion and garlic with grated Parmesan cheese and boy, was this a hearty meal. For dessert, I had the baked black forest confection which was absolutely heavenly. They also have a ton of breakfast options and there truly is something for everyone.

Cafe Bodega, Altinho
Cafe Bodega needs no introduction- this is THE cafe for toothsome preparations made all the more popular with its variety of photography spots. The Eggs Benedict is a hit, with its option of spinach, ham or smoked salmon on waffles. For the vegetarians, the Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Green Beans is the way to go. Their red velvet cakes are in a league of their own- make sure you load up on these- they go wonderfully with the Vietnamese iced coffee!

Baba Au Rhum
Light and green, Baba Au Rhum gives off all kinds of secret garden vibes. It was a hot day so I went for the Hibiscus Cooler. This is a blend of hibiscus syrup, lemon, mint, strawberries and soda and is oh-so-invigorating! The Hercules Burger is a real whopper- juicy and flavourful! A beef or chicken patty layered with cheese, grilled onion, bacon and fried egg, there’s no way you can go wrong with this. The BBQ Chicken Pizza is cheesiness at its finest, with a thin crust loaded with melted cheese, chunks of chicken and a drizzle of barbecue sauce.
